IIT Madras Case Study Collective — Indian Case Studies Repository
IIT Madras has established the IIT Madras Case Study Collective in Madras to serve B-Schools across Tamil Nadu, South India, and globally with peer-reviewed Indian business case studies, teaching notes, and case study submission resources.
At institutions of higher learning, pedagogy typically combines theoretical foundations, experiential learning, and applied project work. Across disciplines — from engineering and technology to management, policy, and entrepreneurship — the case study method has emerged as a powerful pedagogical tool. It bridges theory and practice through real-world scenarios, sharpens critical thinking and analytical rigour, and tests problem-solving and decision-making under realistic constraints.
While case studies have been developed over the decades by select Indian institutions, there remains a significant dependence on cases built around western contexts and foreign university curricula. The technological transformation of the last two decades has fundamentally altered how businesses are built, how organisations operate, and how problems are solved — across every sector and discipline.
